Pearl Beach

Pearl Beach is an abstract expressionist gesture of the quiet finality of countless sunsets remembered rather than observed. Working from memory, I compress the shifting palette of dusk—muted colors, pearl-gray blues, and the hidden warm golds—into layered marks that suggest the landscape surrounded. The painting evokes that moment when the colors begin to fade and the decision to leave the immense, beautiful, and peaceful shore settles in: a bittersweet, meditative pause between day and night that holds both farewell and gratitude.

Shifting the emphasis from personification to the collective memory held by the bark, the work delves into the layers of time and experience etched upon its surface. I aim to evoke a sense of quiet mystery, prompting viewers to contemplate the histories witnessed and absorbed by this enduring natural element.
